Mother Porridge, Sri Petaling

Mother Porridge's new outlet is now open in Sri Petaling.

They have variety of porridge choice in S, M and L size serving - pork porridge, frog porridge, fish porridge, scallop porridge, etc.

For side dishes, they have vege, fried fish skin, their special seafood taufu, etc.

This is the small Dried Scallops Porridge (RM 17.00) which we ordered. There's only scallions, ginger and some dried scallops with the porridge.

Side dish 1: Teow Chew Braised Pork Belly 潮州卤花腩 (RM 12.00).

Comment: OK. Not bad.
Side dish 2: Special Seafood Beancurd 招牌海鲜豆腐 (RM9.00).
What is it so special? It's quite different from the seafood beancurd you can find in other Chinese restaurant. It's more like fish cake beancurd. It's a mixture of fish and beancurd.

Side dish 3: Hong Kong Kai Lan 油香港芥兰 (RM 9.00)

Juan Valdez Cafe Origins, The Intermark

More and more cafe/ restaurants opening in The Intermark. This is the first Juan Valdez Cafe in Malaysia offering 100% Colombian produced coffee.

Let's look at the ambiance.

A very cozy and comfortable cafe to spend your day.

Coffee-brewing.

They do serve variety of pastries.

I don't drink coffee. So, I'm ordering a 12oz Hot Chocolate (RM 16.00) and a piece of Lemon & Caramel Cheese Cake (RM 14.00).

Comments: The Hot Chocolate doesn't taste like normal hot chocolate. I'm not sure what kind of chocolate they use, it taste some sort like Ovaltine.
Lemon & Caramel Cheese Cake (RM 14.00).

Comments: The cheese is nice but the caramel topping is way toooooooooooo sweet. Where's the lemon taste?

If you are a coffee lover and you don't mind spending a little bit more, do visit Juan Valdez to try their Colombian coffee.

BM Yam Rice, Publika

BM Yam Rice is now in town! Alright, this news is not new anymore.

For those who were from Bukit Mertajam (BM), sure this is going to cure your 思乡之苦.

BM Yam Rice is not a restaurant by itself, but it is located in the E.A.T. Food Village in Publika.

You can easily spot BM Yam Rice once you enter E.A.T. Food Village. BM Yam Rice is just one of the stalls. There are other stalls selling chilli pan mee, yong tau fu, etc.

This set of Yam Rice with Pork Soup which include a braised egg+tofu (RM 10.90) is really filling. Worth value.

A few set meals like Yam Rice with Stewed Pork, Yam Rice with Lo Bak, etc. are available. Price from RM 8.90 per set.

Comment: Disappointing rice as it is cold, and not as nice as the yam rice from BM. I don't like the braised egg as well, it has some kind of weird taste which I do not know how to describe. I enjoyed the pork soup most, nice!

They do sell variety of side orders like stewed pork, lo bak, etc. This Stewed Pork costs RM 9.50. Big pieces of pork they give.

On my second visit, I tried this Loh Bak set meal. hmm.....quite disappointing too.

Very normal Loh Bak.

Departure Lounge, Damansara Uptown

Finally, I'm here to try out Departure Lounge. Still a lot of people at around 1.15pm.

Departure Lounge provides variety of selections - "Do It My Way" breakfast, pastas, sandwiches, salads and variety of snacks. It has been famous with its "Do It My Way" breakfast, stepping into year 2014, prices has changed.

Here's our drinks - Hot Chocolates and Sour Island (RM 8.50).
Hot Chocolate (RM 8.00)

3-item DIMY breakfast (RM 9.90) - turkey bacon, baked beans ans scrambled eggs.  All DIMY items come with a toast (white or wholemeal bread) with some other upgrading options.

Comments: generous portion of baked beans.

5-item DIMY breakfast (RM 14.90) - chicken sausages, hash brown, grilled tomato, fish fingers and scrambled eggs.

Comments: Just an ordinary breakfast set, nothing to shout about. But i personally like the grilled tomato, just nice, not too soft, you can still enjoy every bite of it in your mouth. I don't recommend the fish fingers.

Salmon & Bacon pasta (RM 18.90) - spaghetti with smoked salmon, bacon and mushroom in carbonara sauce.

Comments: A normal pasta. No surprise.

Honey cake with Espresso cream cheese (RM 8.90). This is Departure Lounge's signature cake. Do try it.

Comments: Not bad. Not so strong of Espresso taste. Reasonable price. Can be further improved on the cake texture.

Just a tip for you, if you are going to visit Departure Lounge for the first time: -
When you enter, pick your seat. Menu is available at the counter or you may refer to the menu board beside their counter. If you would like to have DIMW breakfast, grab a piece of "DIMW breakfast platter order chit" and a marker pen at the counter, and tick accordingly based on your preference (3-item, 5-item or 7-item). Then, pass the order chit to the staff at the counter (all order were to be done at the counter. Upon paying, you'll be given a "Gate No." (as shown below) and your receipt.
